Land of The Tiger Jacksonville, Fl

Client: The Jacksonville Zoo
Landscape Architect: PJA Architects
Landscape Contractor: The Jacksonville Zoo

Project Specification: The Jacksonville Zoo and Garden’s Land of the Tiger exhibit opened in March of 2014 featuring Sumatran and Malayan tigers. The 2.5 acre exhibit, located in northeast Florida, provides an interactive and innovative overhead trail system designed to give the endangered big cats more freedom to roam and visitors the ability to view them from almost anywhere in the exhibit. As it was critical that the materials used to establish this unique habitat not cause any harm to the animals, Platipus Tree Anchoring Systems were chosen to anchor the large palms located within and around the exhibit. Eliminating traditional props and stakes created a safe and natural environment for the tigers and zoo guests.
