For over 30 years Platipus® Anchors has been the market leader in innovative techniques to stabilize and irrigate newly planted trees. The Platipus Percussion Driven Earth Anchor (PDEA®) provides stabilization without unsightly stakes or guying wires. Our unique specialized strapping mechanism secures the rootball underground allowing for quick root development resulting in considerably lower mortality rates of newly planted trees. PDEAs® are installed with small lightweight tools commonly used by most landscape contractors.

Platipus Tree Anchoring Systems consist of a wide range of materials and sizes to accommodate varying soils and site conditions including new construction, rooftop gardens and difficult urban environments. Tree kits can be designed for temporary and permanent stabilization for trees up to 65’ in height.

Piddler Underground Watering System

The Piddler was developed to replace the unsightly green watering bags that are placed around the trunk of trees. The Piddler, like the PDEA®, is also “sub-surface” and virtually unseen. This underground watering system encircles the rootball where the water is most needed and the only part visible is the fill-tube. The membrane that surrounds the root ball is not meant to hold water but distribute it immediately where it is most needed. By keeping the soil around the rootball moist, the subsequent waterings are more efficient and less water is required.
